Education Assn.
The CVEA represents over 300 teachers and support staff in the Contoocook Valley School District.
The association is acting to improve school quality and student performance. It also negotiates contracts that emphasize a spirit of trust and cooperation, attract quality professionals, and protect employee rights.

Did you know?...
- Out of 138 districts in the state, 96 districts have a higher average pay for their educators.
- Out of 138 districts, our superintendent's salary is ranked #2 and our assistant superintendent's salary is #1.
- Over the past 10 years, salaries at the SAU level have increased by 45% while educators' salaries have lagged at 19%.
- Educators were offered a 2.02% raise including a step on the salary scale (1.6%)
- The cost of living adjustment in our area as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor is currently 4%.
- The NH Retirement System is funded similarly to FICA. The contributions are mandated at the state level. Until recently, the employer's contribution was 3.7% while the employee's contribution was a steady 5.7%.
- Educators agreed with the fact finder's report because it was FAIR! We did not get what we proposed, nor did the School Board. It was a compromise.

Conval has made recent strides to improve its ability to attract and retain top teachers. However, it still lags many top NH districts.

Students in Micky Johnson and Cindy Zawacki's first grade classes learn first hand about life in the time of the Pilgrims. They dipped candles, made butter, wrote with quills and played old fashioned games. One student remarked, "This is the best day ever, but I'm glad I'm not a Pilgrim child. They worked hard!"
